As a ‘Northerner’ it’s inspiring to go on a journey of discovery in the south, first of all, because of the relaxing route getting there – via the Willemsbrug with a view of the Erasmus Bridge, also called ‘The Swan’ – and then because of what you find there; an unspoilt part of the city, with ‘real’ Rotterdam locals. Heemraadspark is also a favourite because of the bustling surrounding restaurants, the skate park and fishmonger Vishandel Bos. If you’re looking to relax, then get on the Waterbus and let yourself be carried along very slowly – just gaze at the city from a distance!
